BCB: No Decision to Rename Shaheed Abu Sayed Stand
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has clarified that no decision has been made to cancel or change the name of the Shaheed Abu Sayed Stand at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

The clarification came after reports appeared on several online platforms claiming that the current BCB administration had removed the stand’s name, triggering discussions and rumors on social media.

In a statement issued Thursday, the BCB said no decision had been taken to rename or remove the names of any stands at the country’s international cricket venues, including the Shaheed Abu Sayed Stand. The official names of the stands are being properly used and displayed during international and domestic matches.

The board also explained that signage displaying the stand’s name may be temporarily removed for regular maintenance or because of damage. Such work is generally carried out on days when there are no matches.

According to the BCB, the stand was named after Shaheed Abu Sayed in recognition of his sacrifice during the July uprising.
