He made this remark at the President's first durbar with officials and employees at the Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban on Thursday (August 27) at 11:30 am.
The President said he had resigned from his positions in the party, parliament and cabinet before taking up the responsibility. He is now completely non-partisan and will perform his duties in that manner. He also said that in running the state, he would give utmost priority to the interests of the country, the state and the people, without holding any anger or fondness toward anyone.
Calling upon the officials and employees of Bangabhaban to work with honesty, sincerity and responsibility, the President said there must be love, respect and loyalty for the country.
Describing Bangabhaban as a symbol of state dignity and sovereignty, he emphasized keeping its dignity intact. At the same time, he instructed that matters relating to Bangabhaban's daily activities and important decisions be conducted with strict confidentiality in the interest of state security.
The President urged officials and employees to be responsible in preventing wastage of public money while ensuring proper and transparent use of state resources. He also emphasized discipline, morality and good character in personal life.
At this time, paying tribute to the martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War, he also recalled the contributions of martyr President Ziaur Rahman, former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia and all previous presidents.
Addressing the officials and employees of Bangabhaban, the President said, ‘We are one family here. Everyone works at the same place.’ He expressed his expectation of working together unitedly with everyone in the future.
