Five disabled siblings' dream of becoming highly educated

The five children of the late Moharram Ali and Fulbanu couple of Bilpar-Gajaria village in Pirijpur union of Bajitpur upazila are all physically disabled. Since birth, some have been unable to move the lower part of their bodies, while others have weak and bent arms and legs.

Although attending educational institutions regularly is difficult for them due to physical limitations, none of them has stopped studying. Elder brother Sujan Mia has completed a postgraduate degree in Science from Gurudayal College, Kishoreganj. Marzia Begum has completed her bachelor's degree in Management. Jahura Begum is studying in the first year of the Social Work department, Mukta Akter has appeared in the Higher Secondary Certificate examination this year, and the youngest sister Panna Akter is studying in the tenth grade.

They have only one demand: opportunities for employment based on merit and ability. After finishing their studies, they want to stand on their own feet instead of becoming objects of anyone's pity.

Elder brother Sujan Mia said that despite physical limitations, he and his siblings have never given up hope. On the other hand, local residents think that if even one member of the family gets employment according to his or her qualifications, the entire family will get the opportunity to become self-reliant.

Jafar Iqbal Jewel, chairman of Pirijpur Union Parishad, described their struggle as inspiring and said that if given appropriate opportunities, these five siblings can go far.

Jalal Uddin, Executive Officer of Bajitpur upazila, said that after learning about the matter, he has inquired about the family and quick steps will be taken to provide assistance.
