On Thursday (August 27) evening, Rizvi's personal assistant Mashiur Rahman filed the GD at Dhanmondi Police Station in the capital. On Friday (August 28), he informed about the matter in a Facebook post.

The GD said Ruhul Kabir Rizvi himself does not operate any Facebook ID, profile or page. Therefore, it has been requested not to consider any statement, photo, video or comment published on any account operated in his name as his personal or authorized statement.

The complaint said several Facebook accounts are being operated using Rizvi's name, photo and political identity. Among these, one account has blue verification, creating the risk of confusion among the general public. Various political statements, photos and videos are being propagated from these accounts in his name.

The GD requested identifying the operators of the fake accounts through technical investigation and taking necessary legal action. It also said that if needed, initiative would be taken to contact Meta, the parent company of Facebook, and close the concerned accounts.

The GD further mentioned that the allegation of operating fake Facebook accounts in Rizvi's name had been reported to law enforcement agencies earlier as well. A general diary had also been filed multiple times at Paltan Police Station in this regard.
