He said this as the main speaker at the annual general meeting of Cox's Bazar Journalist Union at Cox's Bazar Press Club on Saturday.

Qader Goni Chowdhury said, to establish democracy, the state must ensure the security of journalists. If journalists are not protected, media freedom will also shrink. At the same time, he called upon journalists to unite to protect their professional existence and rights.

He said journalism still faces various challenges due to political influence, institutional pressure and professional insecurity. However, independent and strong journalism plays an important role in ensuring democracy, citizens' rights and accountability.
