The drive was conducted on Saturday afternoon led by DSCC Executive Magistrate Md. Aminul Islam. During the drive, two businessmen were fined Tk 50,000 each, totaling Tk 1 lakh. At the same time, they were made to sign an undertaking not to engage in such offenses in the future.

Drive against illegal polythene in Shyambazar, fine Tk 1 lakh

In the drive, about 4,815 kg of polythene in 142 sacks was seized from two warehouses. The estimated market value of the seized polythene is Tk 818,450.
The seized polythene has been handed over to a Department of Environment official for legal action. DSCC said such joint drives will continue in the future in the public interest.
