Senior officials of the ministry and the World Bank were present at the meeting held in the conference room of the Water Resources Ministry at the Secretariat.

During the meeting, the Water Resources Minister said challenges like floods, river erosion, waterlogging, salinity and drought are increasing day by day due to climate change. He said it is urgent to adopt integrated and long-term plans to tackle these.
He said the government is implementing various activities to reduce losses from river erosion and floods, alongside dredging and re-dredging of the country's rivers, canals and water bodies. He called for further strengthening World Bank cooperation to ensure sustainable management of water resources.

Jean Pesme assured continued World Bank cooperation in Bangladesh's water resources development and enhancing climate resilience. During this time, he emphasized integrated planning of water resources, use of modern technology, institutional capacity building and sustainable development.
The meeting also discussed progress of ongoing projects in the water resources sector, future areas of cooperation, and various matters of mutual interest.
