On Monday night, a raid was conducted in Ward No. 2 of Mirzapur Union in Hathazari and Jamal Hossain and Kabir Ahmed were arrested. Jamal is a mason by profession and Kabir is an auto-rickshaw driver.
Police said during preliminary interrogation the two arrestees said these weapons were made in an auto-rickshaw garage in the Sarkarhat area. Police learned that Osman, a worker of the garage, used to make weapons secretly and later sell them through Jamal and Kabir.
Police said since the garage owner lives abroad, Osman used to run it. A drive is underway to arrest him.
Additional Superintendent of Police of Chattogram district (Hathazari circle) Kazi Md. Tariq Aziz said police contacted Jamal and Kabir posing as buyers. They said they would sell weapons for Tk 20,000 to Tk 50,000. Later a raid was conducted and they were arrested.
Police said a case has been filed under the Arms Act at the police station over the incident.
