Malaysia denies report of hiring 200,000 Bangladeshi workers

He said that the statement made by a Bangladeshi deputy minister regarding the recruitment of workers is not the official position of the Bangladesh government. He also said that he had discussed the matter with Malaysia's human resources minister.

Earlier on Tuesday, Bangladesh's State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Mir Shah Alam, had said that the process of recruiting Bangladeshi workers would begin gradually from late September. He said this after a meeting with Malaysian High Commissioner Shuhada Osman.

Meanwhile, Fahmi also spoke about the repatriation of refugees to Myanmar. He said that among the more than 10,000 Myanmar refugees held in Malaysia, a list of 5,000 people was prepared after screening. Of these, Myanmar has agreed to take back 1,476.
