The agriculture minister made these remarks while visiting the hospital on September 1. He expressed dissatisfaction after seeing the poor condition of the hospital's floors, bathrooms and overall environment. Later, a video of about 50 seconds of his remarks spread on social media, triggering discussion and criticism.
In the video, the minister is seen expressing anger at the black stains on the tiles and the dirty bathrooms. He said that of the six bathrooms on each floor, five were closed. Ordering that the bathrooms be kept usable at least, at one point he said, ‘I want clean right now’ — I want a clean environment right now.
During the visit, the minister also noticed electric fans that had been out of order for a long time. He instructed the hospital's acting director to repair them quickly.
Meanwhile, local journalists alleged that the hospital's acting director cannot be reached on his mobile phone when needed, and people have to wait a long time even after visiting his office. However, although phone calls were made multiple times to seek his comment on the matter, Dr. Md. Shahjahan did not answer the phone.
