Health Minister Announces to Make All Hospitals in the Country Tout-Free

After inspecting Sylhet's MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, the 250-bed district hospital and Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital, the minister said these things to journalists. Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir was present at that time.

The health minister said that a syndicate is taking patients to various private clinics with false assurances. DGFI, RAB and other law enforcement agencies are conducting drives against the tout syndicate. He also said the nuisance of touts has decreased compared to before.

Saying that drives against illegal clinics and fake doctors are continuing, he said mobile courts are being conducted regularly through deputy commissioners and civil surgeons. Illegal establishments are being fined and sealed as required.

The minister further said that after visiting more than 25 hospitals in the last month, he found 100% attendance of doctors. He said that after the visits, the behaviour of doctors with patients and the quality of hospital food have also improved compared to earlier.

Regarding measles infection, Sakhavat Hossain said that due to the lack of regular immunisation programmes for a long time, the number of unvaccinated children has increased in the country. With the cooperation of the World Bank and UNICEF, adequate vaccines have been brought and vaccination activities are currently underway.
