He said these things as the chief guest at the orientation and felicitation ceremony of 'Rafiq Hilali English Excellence Programme-2026' held at Kendua Upazila Public Hall in Netrakona at noon on Friday.

Responding to journalists' questions after the event, the state minister said an initiative has been taken to increase the budget allocation of the Journalist Welfare Trust from Tk 6 crore to Tk 25 crore. The proposal has been sent to the Finance Ministry.

He said that along with ensuring press freedom, efforts are underway to maintain professional standards through the Press Council and to prevent yellow journalism and unethical journalism.

Regarding transport and study facilities for students in haor areas and a separate academic calendar, the state minister said the government is reviewing the matter with due importance. A positive decision will be taken on this very soon.

Addressing the students, he said true success lies not only in good results but in growing up as humane and ideal citizens. He also informed about initiatives to modernize playgrounds to engage grassroots youths in sports and to launch special programmes for teaching Chinese and Arabic languages online and on television.
