He made these remarks as the chief guest at a discussion meeting organized at the Tant Board Institute Auditorium in Narsingdi on Friday (September 4) on the occasion of BNP's 48th founding anniversary.

The minister said Ziaur Rahman initiated the politics of production and development in the country's economy. In addition to opening up the economy, important initiatives were taken during his time for the development of the ready-made garment industry and foreign employment. At present, these sectors are among the main foundations of the country's economy.

He also commented that Ziaur Rahman played a role in establishing the rights of women and children and strengthening Bangladesh's position in the international arena.
