The 17th martyrdom anniversary of former Finance and Planning Minister M Saifur Rahman was observed through various programs. On this occasion, the Smriti Parishad, the deceased's family and BNP arranged various daylong programs.
On Saturday, Quran recitation, grave visitation and floral tributes were offered at Saifur Rahman's ancestral home in Baharmardan under Moulvibazar Sadar upazila. Later, a milad mahfil, special prayers and sherini distribution were held.

At that time, National Parliament Whip G. K. Gaus, Saifur Rahman's son and BNP National Executive Committee member and Member of Parliament for Moulvibazar-3 constituency M Naser Rahman, along with family members, leaders and activists of Smriti Parishad and BNP, were present.

On the occasion of the day, financial grants and certificates were given to meritorious underprivileged students who secured GPA-5 in the SSC examinations. In addition, a free eye camp was arranged throughout the day.
