Aviation minister makes surprise visit at Shahjalal, directs reducing baggage handling time

During his visit to the airport in the morning, at 1:00 pm, a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight on the Jeddah–Chittagong–Dhaka route landed. The minister supervised the entire process on site, from opening the flight's cargo hold to baggage handling and handing over the baggage to the passengers.

The minister said it is very important to reduce time in baggage management. In this regard, he instructed ensuring coordination between the time of opening passenger gates and the cargo hold after the aircraft lands. Besides, he said the ground handling staff must be present in a planned manner before the flight lands.

The aviation minister also instructed installing live monitoring screens at the airport to give passengers real-time information about the progress of baggage handling. At the same time, he inspected various washrooms of the airport and instructed to monitor the cleanliness activities more intensively.

During the visit, Biman Bangladesh Airlines Managing Director Kaizer Sohel Ahmed, Civil Aviation Authority Chairman Air Vice Marshal Mostafa Mahmud Siddiqui and senior officials of concerned organizations were present.

The government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy to stop passenger harassment at the airport. As part of this, measures have been taken to directly supervise and reduce time in baggage management, said officials concerned.
