Emphasis on enhancing mutual communication to strengthen Bangladesh-India relations

On Monday, they exchanged views on various aspects of the relations between the two countries during a courtesy meeting at the adviser's office in Bangladesh Secretariat.

During the meeting, Ismail Zabihullah said Bangladesh and India are friendly neighbouring countries. He said it is important to bringing killings along the long shared border down to zero, reducing the trade deficit, and ensuring Bangladesh's fair share of Ganges water. He also emphasized strengthening people-to-people relations rather than relations with any particular political party.

He expressed hope that under the leadership of the Indian High Commissioner, Bangladesh-India bilateral relations will be further strengthened.

High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi highlighted the shared culture and historical ties between the two countries and emphasized increasing mutual cooperation. Mentioning the demand for Bangladeshi hilsa, he expressed interest in sending Bangladeshi officials for training in India.

The Indian High Commissioner also laid importance on resuming training and capacity-building programmes between the public administrations of the two countries. He expressed the expectation that Bangladesh-India relations would be further advanced in the interest of the people.
