No jail if dues paid and compromise reached: High Court
The court said the main purpose of a cheque dishonour case is not to punish or send the accused to jail. Rather, ensuring recovery of the creditor's money is the primary goal of such cases.
In this case, the accused paid the amount mentioned in the cheque as well as the bank's dues. Later, as a compromise was reached between both parties, the High Court quashed his one-year imprisonment.

At the same time, the court ordered that Tk 14,100 deposited in the lower court before the appeal be handed over to BRAC Microfinance.
