Decision to Increase Marks for Viva Not Finalized: Public Administration Minister of State

On Wednesday morning he told the media that there are differences in the recruitment examination procedures of various ministries and departments. Discussions are underway to bring all examinations under a unified system, but no decision has been finalized yet.

According to the proposed rules, for direct recruitment to grades 11 and 12, the written examination will be of 100 marks and the oral examination 50 marks. For grades 13 to 16, it has been proposed to keep written 60 and oral 40 marks, and for grades 17 to 20, both written and oral examinations are proposed to be of 25 marks each.

The proposed rules also mention setting minimum pass marks in written and oral examinations. If there is a practical examination for any post, one must pass the written examination and then pass the practical examination before appearing in the oral examination.

Currently, the marks for written and oral examinations differ under various recruitment rules. In some places, written and oral examinations carry equal marks, while in others, written examinations carry more marks and oral examinations comparatively fewer marks.

Urging everyone not to panic over the increase in oral examination marks, the minister of state said that whatever decision the government makes will apply to everyone. He also mentioned that no decision would be taken to benefit anyone in particular.

Urging people not to criticize the matter before a final decision is made, he said that the discussion should take place after the government takes its decision.
