Inauguration of Trainer Training for Family Card Programme in Dhaka

The two-day training was inaugurated at the Department of Social Services in Agargaon on Wednesday. Trainers are being given this training on September 9 and 10 to train data collectors and supervisors.

At the inaugural ceremony, the minister said the government is working to improve the quality of life of helpless, poor and low-income people and to ensure hundred percent implementation of social safety net programmes. The Family Card will play an important role in making women self-reliant.

He said politics will have no connection with the collection of Family Card data. The trained persons must collect data at field level with honesty, sincerity and accuracy and build a database.

The minister further informed that the Family Card programme will continue for four years. Data collection and verification will continue across the country and it will be reviewed every two months.

State Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin said the pilot activities of the Family Card have been completed at the initial stage. There is a plan to issue Family Cards to about 4.1 million families across the country from next October.

She said through accurate data collection, the work of creating an integrated database will be advanced in the future. This will help reduce repetition of various information and irregularities.

Shah Mohammad Mahbub, Director General of the Department of Social Services, presided over the event. Secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare Dr. Mohammad Abu Yusuf along with concerned officials were present.
