Initiative to build fields from union to upazila levels to establish sports as a profession: State Minister for Youth and Sports

He was speaking as the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony of the final of the District Administrator Gold Cup Football Tournament-2026, organised by the district administration in Bogura on Wednesday afternoon.

Aminul Haque said the present government has been working from the grassroots by giving utmost importance to sports. Initiatives have been taken to create fields at the union level and construct mini stadiums at the upazila level to involve the younger generation in sports.

Referring to the initiative to construct the 'Arafat Rahman Koko Sports Village' in Bogura, the state minister said the project would be implemented soon. Besides, an initiative has also been taken to build galleries for spectators around the existing field.

He said there is no alternative to sports in building a healthy future generation. Sports opportunities will be expanded further in every district and divisional city to keep youths away from drugs and various addictions.

Seeking everyone's cooperation in keeping children and adolescents away from excessive use of devices and building a drug-free society, Aminul Haque said it is possible to build a prosperous, drug-free and humane Bangladesh through collective efforts.

Bogura City Corporation became champions in the final of the tournament. After the match, the prize was handed over to the winning team.
