We do not want laws that curtail media freedom: Information Minister
The Information Minister said that over the past 17 years, various laws, including the Digital Security Act, have been used to suppress and intimidate the media. It must be ensured that laws made for a specific purpose are not used for any other purpose.
He said the new Cyber Protection Act will be drafted in such a way that in the future there is no opportunity to use it to silence the media or any individual.

Informing that the meeting also discussed how rumors and misleading content can be stopped, Andaleeve Rahman Partha said efforts are underway to enact an effective and balanced law.
