State Minister Sultan Salauddin Tuku inspects fish seed production farm in Tangail

During the inspection, the state minister obtained detailed information from the concerned officials about the farm's ponds, hatchery, fry production and conservation activities. He also exchanged views with officials on the current status of fish seed production, increasing production capacity, and the use of modern technology.

Sultan Salauddin Tuku said there is no alternative to producing quality fish seed to meet the country's growing demand for fish. The government is working to increase fish production through safe and quality fish seed production. He also expressed hope that fish production will gain further momentum through increasing the capacity and modernization of government fish farms.

Inaugurating the 20-kilowatt solar power system, the state minister said this solar-powered system will make the farm's electricity management more sustainable and cost-effective. If the use of renewable energy is increased in government farms, production costs will decrease as well as environmental protection will be ensured. He said initiatives will be taken to use such environment-friendly technology in other government fish farms across the country in phases.

Later, the state minister planted a tree sapling on the farm premises.

At that time, Director of the Department of Fisheries, Dhaka Division Md. Ahsan Hasib Khan; Project Director Md. Mashiur Rahman of the ‘Infrastructure Development for Enhancing the Capacity and Fish Production of Existing Government Fish Farms’ project; Tangail District Fisheries Officer Mohammad Shahjahan Kabir; along with senior officials of the Department of Fisheries, project-related officials, representatives of the local administration, and distinguished persons of the area were present.
