At JU, teacher recruitment board convening with only one candidate

University sources said that a recruitment notice for the post of Associate Professor was published on July 15. Although four people applied within the stipulated time, as three failed to meet the necessary conditions in the preliminary screening, one candidate was finalized for the recruitment examination.

The matter of organizing the recruitment board with only one candidate is being discussed and criticized among a section of university teachers. According to them, if teachers are selected through competitive evaluation from among multiple qualified candidates, the process becomes more transparent and acceptable.

A professor, wishing not to be named, said that in an institution like a university, there should be multiple candidates for teacher recruitment. If a board is held with only one person, there is no opportunity for competitive evaluation and questions arise about the transparency of the recruitment process.

University Registrar Dr. A B M Azizur Rahman said that four people had applied for the post. However, since the others failed to meet the conditions, one person has been called. Deputy Registrar (Teaching) Dr. B. M. Kamruzzaman will be able to provide details on the matter.

The Deputy Registrar (Teaching) expressed inability to speak on the matter over mobile phone and requested to speak by coming to the office. Although attempts were made several times to contact Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan, his statement could not be obtained.
