Missing Rocky Still Not Found in Padma Trawler Accident

Around 9:15 pm on Friday, when the trawler hit a pillar of the Hardinge Bridge near Paksey due to strong currents, three people fell into the river. Later, although others on the trawler managed to rescue Liton and Ohab, Rocky drowned in the water.

The missing Rakibuzzaman Rocky (30) is the son of the late Hasan Ali of Kabirpur village in Shailkupa upazila, Jhenaidah. Rescued Liton (38) is from the same area, and Ohab (45) is a resident of the Aroyapara area in Kushtia.

River Police said that on Friday morning, about 120 people went from Katla Ghat in Shailkupa, Jhenaidah, to Sulaiman Shah Mazar in Bheramara on an engine-powered trawler for an outing. The accident occurred near the Hardinge Bridge while they were returning at night.

After receiving the news, members of Lakshmikunda River Police and Ishwardi and Bheramara Fire Service began a rescue operation. Even after conducting the operation until midnight, Rocky was not found.

Shafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of the Lakshmikunda River Police outpost, said that although three people fell into the river, two were rescued alive. The rescue operation is continuing in search of the missing Rocky.
