Initiatives must be taken to remove obstacles to development alongside law and order: State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock

He said this in his speech as chief guest at an exchange of views meeting with members of parliament and the administration on the district's law and order and development activities at the conference room of the Dhaka Deputy Commissioner on Sunday.

The State Minister said the responsibility of maintaining law and order is not only the administration's. A safe and stable environment can be ensured through coordinated efforts of political leadership, the administration, law enforcement agencies and the people. To control drugs, the administration, public representatives and social organizations must also become more active.

Calling for increased surveillance in crime-prone areas in the capital and surrounding areas, he said public awareness must be increased alongside the law enforcement agencies' vigilance to prevent crime.

Regarding the dengue situation, Sultan Salauddin Tuku said the risk of dengue may increase in the coming months. Therefore, the administration, public representatives and people must work together to destroy mosquito breeding grounds, improve cleanliness and raise public awareness. At the same time, he called for increased monitoring to prevent antisocial activities in residential hotels and guesthouses.

Calling on government officials to perform their duties giving the highest priority to the interests of the people and the state, the State Minister said the welfare of the people, not the interests of any individual or group, should be the main goal of the administration's activities.

The meeting was presided over by Dhaka Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam, and was attended by State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ishrak Hossain, Opposition Chief Whip Nahid Islam, along with members of parliament, representatives of law enforcement agencies, administration officials and public representatives.
