What actress Badhon said at the airport after returning from Italy
Actress Azmeri Haque Badhon has returned home after allegations of assault and harassment during her visit to participate in the Venice Film Festival in Italy. She arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Monday (September 14) morning.

While speaking with journalists at the airport, Badhon spoke about the incident that took place in Italy. At the same time, she also highlighted the role of the police there and the issue of receiving security.

Badhon said, ‘Those who are carrying out attacks are inviting danger upon themselves. They raised their hands against me. This barbarity of theirs must stop. I think the attackers are making their own place unsafe. The incident that happened in Italy is sad. Through it, our country's name has been tarnished on foreign soil.’

She also said, ‘Out of love for the party, do not do such things. Because your families will suffer. But the party leaders will not see this. They are comfortable and giving video messages.’

Regarding the role of the Italian police, Badhon said that after the incident she was given security for 24 hours. She said she also received cooperation from local police and relevant authorities while staying there.

Earlier, on the night of September 7, while staying with family members in the Mestre area of Italy, Badhon alleged that a group of expatriate Bangladeshis harassed and attacked her. A video of the incident spread on social media. In the video, Badhon can be seen exchanging heated words with several people.

After the incident, Badhon lodged a complaint at the local police station. It is learned that police began trying to identify those involved by analyzing video and CCTV footage. Later, discussions were held in Bangladesh and Italy regarding her security and legal assistance. She was also assured of assistance from the Bangladesh Embassy and Consulate.

Badhon had gone to Italy to participate in a screening of her film ‘The Difficult Bride’, directed by Rubaiyat Hossain. At the Venice Film Festival, the film won the Independent Film Critics Award ‘Premio Bisato d’Oro’.
