21st meeting of the Governing Board of Police Staff College held

At the meeting, the minutes of the previous meeting were approved and the progress of implementation of decisions was reviewed. In addition, various matters were discussed, including infrastructure development of the Police Staff College, establishment of a research and innovation center, mandatory training, allocation of funds for training, introduction of higher education courses, international training activities, and celebration of the college's silver jubilee.

At the meeting, the Home Minister informed about the plan to form a full-fledged and institutional cyber security unit to increase Bangladesh Police's capacity to combat cybercrime.

He said that many members of the police force have educational backgrounds in engineering, information technology, and computer science. Utilizing their skills, plans are underway to establish a cyber security unit under the leadership of an Additional Inspector General.

The Minister said that although various digital crimes are currently investigated and forensic analyses are conducted through the Police Headquarters, the Cyber Unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, and the Criminal Investigation Department, a permanent and integrated structure is needed.

He also emphasized increasing opportunities for international-standard training alongside internal training to enhance the professional skills and morale of police members. The Home Minister also said that, if necessary, foreign trainers would be brought in to build modern training facilities.

At the meeting, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Vice Chairman of the Governing Board Manzur Morshed Chowdhury, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Md. Kamruzzaman Chowdhury, Inspector General of Police Md. Ali Hossain Fakir, and senior officials of various related ministries and institutions were present.

Later, the Home Minister visited the campus of the Police Staff College.
