On Tuesday (15 September), he made this call while speaking as chief guest at a day-long cultural competition organized on the occasion of Nazrul Year at the auditorium of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College in the capital.
Cultural Affairs Minister calls for enlightening the youth with Nazrul's spirit of humanity, equality and patriotism
The minister said that through the practice of Nazrul, creativity, human values and patriotism will be awakened among the youth. He also mentioned that the development of healthy culture is one of the foundations of building an enlightened society.
Noting that initiatives have been taken to organize cultural competitions simultaneously in all educational institutions across the country on the occasion of Nazrul Year, Nityai Roy Chowdhury said that the life and literature of the National Poet are a source of endless inspiration for the new generation.

He said that by composing Islamic songs and Shyama songs, Nazrul set a unique example of religious harmony. The creative use of words from various languages in his literary works has enriched the Bengali language.
The minister emphasized the practice and promotion of boat racing, jatra art, Baul songs and the songs of Hason Raja, Lalon and Bijoy Sarkar for healthy cultural development. He also remarked that Bangladesh's unique heritage has been built by combining the cultural diversity of the hills and the plains.
The Cultural Affairs Minister highlighted the importance of awakening women's power and women's empowerment to the female students. At the same time, he also mentioned various public welfare initiatives and development activities of the government.
Acting Principal of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College Majeda Begum presided over the event. At that time, joint secretaries of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, teachers, guardians and a large number of female students were present.
After the event, the minister enjoyed cultural performances by the students and congratulated the students who participated in the competition.
