The meeting between a delegation of Switzerland and a delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami was held at 12:30 pm on Tuesday (September 15) in Baridhara in the capital.
The Swiss delegation was led by Ambassador to Bangladesh Reto Renggli. At that time, Counsellor and Head of Political, Economic and Communication Affairs Alberto Giovannetti and Senior Political, Economic and Press Officer Khaled Iqbal Chowdhury were present.
The Jamaat-e-Islami delegation included Member of the Central Executive Council Saiful Alam Khan Milon MP, Member of the Central Executive Council Advocate Matiur Rahman Akand, and member of the Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee of the Leader of the Opposition in the National Parliament Ali Ahmed Mabrur.
At the meeting, discussions were held on the current political situation in Bangladesh, parliamentary democracy, good governance, and the country's democratic progress. The Jamaat delegation presented their views and experience on parliamentary activities and also discussed various challenges as the main opposition party.
In addition, views were exchanged on various issues of mutual interest and the political and institutional development of Bangladesh.
At the meeting, emphasis was placed on the importance of continuous communication on dialogue, democratic practices, and issues of mutual interest. According to those concerned, in the meeting held in a cordial environment, the two sides exchanged views on various issues.
