At the meeting, there was a detailed discussion on businessmen's recent announcement regarding raising the prices of bakery products, production and marketing costs, and other related issues. Representatives of bakery product traders' organizations participated in it.

After the discussion, business leaders agreed to keep the decision to increase the prices of biscuits and bread suspended for now. At the same time, it was announced that the next decision would be taken after reviewing the actual production and marketing costs.

For this, a committee has been formed led by the Chairman of the Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission. The committee will review the prices of raw materials for bakery products, production and marketing costs, taxes and duties, and other related matters, and will submit a report within the next seven days.

Based on that report, the next decision regarding the prices of bakery products will be taken. The government has said that, along with the interests of businessmen, it will take initiatives to keep the market for essential food commodities stable, giving the highest importance to public interest and consumers.

It was further said at the meeting that necessary steps will be taken in coordination with all relevant parties to ensure the supply of bakery products at reasonable prices.

Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Md. Ataur Rahman Khan, Chairman of the Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission Nasir Ud Daula, and bakery product business leaders were present at the meeting.
