Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury went to his Mohammadpur residence to visit Gulbadan Nessa Monika, the ailing wife of the late Language Movement veteran Abdul Matin. At that time, he inquired about her physical condition.
The minister remembered with deep respect Abdul Matin's contribution to the Language Movement and his sacrifice for the mother tongue. He said, the sacrifices and ideals of the Language Movement veterans will forever remain a source of inspiration for the new generation.

The minister handed over a cheque for BDT 5 lakh in financial assistance from the Artists' Welfare Trust to Gulbadan Nessa Monika for her treatment. At the same time, he wished her a speedy recovery.
