Directive to launch biometric attendance in all upazila and union land offices
To make field-level land services more dynamic, transparent and accountable, the Ministry of Land has directed the installation of biometric digital attendance devices in all upazila and union land offices across the country.

In a circular issued on 14 September from the Field Administration-2 Branch of the Ministry of Land, deputy commissioners have been asked to ensure the installation of these devices in all upazila and union land offices in their respective districts and their regular use by officers and employees.

The circular said that in order for people to receive land services in due time without hindrance, it is essential for the concerned officers and employees to be present regularly and on time at their workplaces. It is with this objective that instructions have been given to immediately launch the biometric attendance system.

At the same time, the relevant authorities have been asked to ensure whether the installed devices are being used regularly. Copies of the circular have been sent to divisional commissioners, upazila nirbahi officers, assistant commissioners (land) and concerned officials.

The ministry hopes that through biometric attendance, the presence, discipline and accountability of officers and employees at field-level land offices will increase, and the harassment faced by ordinary people in receiving land services will decrease.
