Collective efforts needed to establish the correct narrative and build an equal-rights-based society: State Minister

He said these things while speaking as chief guest at a discussion meeting titled ‘From Commitment to Implementation: The Government's 180 Days in Protecting the Rights of Women and Children’ at a hotel in Gulshan, Dhaka.

The state minister called for recognizing women’s multidimensional identity and capabilities instead of limiting their identity to only daughter, mother or wife. Similarly, highlighting the need to change prevailing social perceptions regarding both women and men, he said that in democratic politics, competence, participation and public trust are more important than physical strength.

Regarding primary education, Bobby Hajjaj said that delivering quality education to every child is one of the government's key goals. Alongside government institutions, initiatives are being taken to bring private and, gradually, madrasa educational institutions under effective government oversight.

He further said that work is underway to improve school infrastructure, teacher attendance and accommodation facilities for children in remote areas, including haors. At the same time, a pilot program has been undertaken to provide necessary sanitary items free of charge to adolescent girls in primary schools and to raise health awareness.

Member of Parliament Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud, Anna Minz, Nusrat Tabassum Jyoti, and Executive Director of CPD Dr. Nazneen Ahmed, along with representatives of various development organizations and students, were present at the meeting.
