Loans of up to Tk 20 lakh to be given to 5,000 young people annually: Mahdi Amin

He disclosed this at a press conference at the Prime Minister's Office in Tejgaon in the capital on Wednesday (September 16). He said a startup fund of Tk 50 crore has been formed for young entrepreneurs.

At the press conference, Mahdi Amin highlighted initiatives to bring down the price of smartphones to Tk 2,000–3,000, an IT park and master plan for freelancers, and a uniform age limit and pay structure for government employees.

He also informed about the decision to make technical education compulsory at the university and college levels in the education sector, provide 100% government scholarships to the top 5 percent meritorious students in higher education, and provide free laptops to top achievers in SSC. He also mentioned initiatives to provide free balanced meals to students of Qawmi and Alia madrasas and awards of Tk 1 lakh each to the top 100 teachers.

Besides, Mahdi Amin said remittance income increased by 13.1 percent in the last six months to stand at nearly $18.94 billion. He also spoke about the initiative to send 10,000 Bangladeshi workers to Malaysia completely free of cost and various international cooperation and humanitarian assistance.
