Initiatives will be taken to increase manpower and digital services: Commerce Minister

He said this at a view-exchange meeting with officials of the directorate on Thursday, adding that along with increasing training, manpower, and modern equipment, existing services will gradually be brought onto digital platforms.

The commerce minister said the directorate’s role in protecting the consumer rights of a vast number of people in the country is important. To make these activities more people-friendly, research will be conducted by the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) on the structures and services of consumer rights agencies in various countries around the world.

Noting that the directorate’s activities will be further expanded based on the research recommendations, he said some new initiatives will be taken soon so that consumers can receive services easily and effectively.
