He said this at a review meeting at the Secretariat on Thursday on ongoing, unapproved and newly proposed projects of the three ministries for inclusion in the Annual Development Programme for the fiscal year 2026-27.

Directive to ensure transparency, accountability and optimal use of funds in projects
The minister said that merely spending allocated money cannot be the purpose of a project. It must be considered how much each project contributes to the economy, employment, productivity and public welfare.
He said the government is not going down the path of increasing production capacity by directly investing anew in industrial factories. The private sector will be further involved in industrial management and investment. Based on necessity and rationality, the government may join as a partner or shareholder.

State Minister for Planning Md. Junaid Abdur Rahim Saki said that in taking projects, alongside allocation and expenditure, expected results, feasibility and long-term impact must be evaluated. He also emphasized maintaining the stipulated time, cost and quality.
At the meeting, progress, financial management and future effectiveness of various projects of the Ministry of Industries, Ministry of Textiles and Jute, and Ministry of Commerce were reviewed. State Minister for Textiles and Jute Shariful Alam emphasized making the sector more competitive through modern technology, efficient management and market expansion.
Besides, discussions were held on taking new projects for the development of the handloom industry and preservation of heritage, low-interest loans for weavers, production of Tangail sarees and muslin, research, and expansion of domestic and foreign markets.
