On Friday (September 18) morning, Rafi, the son of Sabbir Hossain of Noadapara village in Fulbaria Union of the upazila, fell into water. When relatives took him to the 50-bed Mirpur Upazila Health Complex in critical condition, the on-duty doctor declared him dead after examination.

Child dies by drowning in Kushtia, hospital vandalized
When news of the child's death spread, agitated relatives and some locals entered doctors' rooms and misbehaved with them. At one point, vandalism was carried out in various places of the hospital, including the room of Medical Officer No. 11. Dr. Abdus Samad and Dr. Jannatul Riya were injured in this.
Investigating Officer (OC) Abdul Aziz of Mirpur Police Station said he is at the scene and the situation is currently normal. Legal action will be taken after investigating the incident.

After the incident, Mirpur Upazila BNP General Secretary Khandaker Tipu Sultan and Municipal BNP General Secretary Ibrahim Ali visited the vandalized hospital.
Dr. Jannatul Riya said that although the relatives' grief and pain should be viewed with sympathy, the attack and vandalism at the hospital's emergency service center are severely disrupting medical services.
