During Sheikh Hasina's government, various agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed with India on the use of Chattogram and Mongla ports, connectivity, and other bilateral issues. Besides, India has invested about 7 billion dollars in Bangladesh through loans or ‘Line of Credit’.

Meanwhile, the 30-year Ganges water-sharing treaty is scheduled to expire next December. On this issue, the spokesperson of India's Ministry of External Affairs said discussions are ongoing through the Joint Rivers Commission of the two countries on water-related issues, including Ganges water sharing. Technical-level meetings on water issues are continuing.
