BGFCL sources say work on Titas-29, 30 and 31 and Bakhrabad-11 wells is also progressing. Within the next three to four months, another nearly 55 million cubic feet of gas from these wells is likely to be added to the national grid. Altogether, from five wells, a maximum of about 67.5 million cubic feet of additional gas may be supplied.
12.5 million cubic feet of gas being added to the national grid today
BGFCL officials say initiatives have been taken to drill new wells and develop existing gas fields to increase gas supply from domestic sources. Drilling work on Titas-28 well was completed about a month ago. The depth of the well is about 13,000 feet.
‘Drilling of four appraisal-cum-development wells in Titas and Kamta fields’ project director Engineer A K M Jasim Uddin said that work on drilling several wells is underway at a cost of about Tk 800 crore. The main drilling work of Titas-29 well has been completed, and after ancillary work is completed, it is likely to go into production within the next one to one and a half months. It is hoped that 10 to 15 million cubic feet of gas per day will be obtained from this well.

Meanwhile, there are plans to complete work on Titas-30 well within the next three to four months. BGFCL expects to get 10 to 15 million cubic feet of gas per day from the well.
Drilling work on deep exploration well Titas-31 started on April 19 this year. Its depth has already reached about 4,920 metres. The target is 5,600 metres. If there are no geological complications, the work may be completed within the next two to three months. If successful, there is a possibility of getting about 15 million cubic feet of gas per day from the well.
After Titas-31, there are plans to start drilling work on the deep well Bakhrabad-11. There is a possibility of getting about 10 million cubic feet of gas per day from the well. As a result, with a maximum of 55 million cubic feet from Titas-29, 30 and 31 and Bakhrabad-11, plus 12.5 million cubic feet from Titas-28, an additional nearly 67.5 million cubic feet of gas may be added to the national grid.
