The detained Sanjoy Kumar Das is the son of Hiran Kumar Das of Govipur village in Sadar Upazila. He was detained from the Garapukur area of the town on Friday night (September 18).

Youth detained in Meherpur over allegations of derogatory remarks against Prime Minister
Police said that on Friday night, Sanjoy posted a video on his Facebook profile. It allegedly contained abusive language and threats concerning the Prime Minister. After the video spread on social media, the matter came to the attention of the police.
Later that night, conducting a raid, police detained Sanjoy from the Garapukur area and took him to Sadar Police Station.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Humayun Kabir of Meherpur Sadar Police Station confirmed the incident and said that Sanjoy Kumar was detained on allegations of posting a video containing abusive language about the Prime Minister on social media. He is being interrogated.
The OC further said that legal action against him is underway in this incident.
