Khandaker Jalal Uddin Mahmud had been serving as staff officer to the GMP commissioner for a long time. On Saturday (September 19), the post was made on GMP's Facebook page after a street meeting held at Bhogara Bypass intersection in Gazipur on the occasion of the opposition party's long march.

In the post, along with the destination and demands of the long march, it was stated that the program entered Gazipur at 9 am and left peacefully after a brief speech at Bhogara Bypass at 10 am. It also mentioned that approximately 8,000 to 10,000 people gathered at the program.
At the street meeting, leaders of the 11-party alliance, including opposition leader Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, spoke. A huge number of police members were deployed at various points on the highway and at the meeting venue in connection with the program.

After the post was published, many leaders and activists of BNP and Chhatra Dal criticized it on social media and demanded the withdrawal of the concerned officer. Later, the post was first edited and subsequently deleted.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (GMP) Md. Zahid Hossain Bhuiyan said the acting staff officer has been withdrawn and attached to headquarters. He also confirmed that he was withdrawn because of the Facebook post.
