IEDCR's research a unique model in optimal use of limited resources: State Minister for Health
State Minister for Health Dr. M A Muhit said that in ensuring the proper use of the country's limited resources and increasing the capacity and productivity of national institutions, the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) can be a unique model.

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the opening session of ‘Bangladesh FETP Conference 2026’ at the IEDCR auditorium in Mohakhali, Dhaka, on Sunday (20 September) morning. The conference titled ‘Strengthening Field Epidemiology Practice’ was jointly organized by IEDCR and Field Epidemiology Training Program, Bangladesh (FETP-B).

Dr. Muhit said IEDCR has long been playing an important role in training and enhancing the capacity of the country's epidemiologists. In particular, the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) is a successful initiative. Graduates of this program are working in various institutions at home and abroad, contributing to the protection of public health.

He said, although there are many training institutions in the country to create skilled manpower, due to a lack of coordination and long-term planning, it is not possible to ensure maximum use of limited resources. In this regard, IEDCR can set an example.

Praising the scientific posters and research papers displayed at the conference, the State Minister for Health said these researches are of international standard. He mentioned as a positive aspect that the researches are conducted emphasizing the real problems of Bangladesh and the health risks of the large population.
