The incident took place around 11am on Sunday (September 20) in the Baduar Bazar area of the upazila.

The two deceased brothers are Md. Asikin (14) and Md. Arifin (14), sons of Md. Faruk Ahmed of Bari Majlis village. The identity of the other deceased teenager was not immediately known.

According to local sources, in the morning four teenagers went into the Meghna River to swim. At one point, when a trawler passed over them, three teenagers drowned. Three teenagers, including twin brothers, died in the incident.

At that time, another teenager named Karis was able to swim to the shore.

Later, locals searched the river and recovered the bodies of the three teenagers. The incident has caused mourning among locals.
