Former Dhaka SP Asaduzzaman dismissed from service

This information was disclosed in a notification issued by the Discipline-1 branch of the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The action was taken after a departmental inquiry under the relevant provisions of the Government Employees (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018.

According to the notification, Md. Asaduzzaman was currently working at the Bangladesh Police Academy, Sardah, Rajshahi. Earlier, he served as Superintendent of Police of Dhaka district. On 17 September 2024, he joined the Bangladesh Police Academy, Sardah. Later, after leaving the workplace on 19 September on the occasion of Durga Puja, he did not join the workplace again, the allegation stated.

The notification further said that although he was served a show-cause notice regarding his long absence from the workplace, he did not submit a written reply within the stipulated time. Later, in the investigation into the allegation, the inquiry report mentioned that the allegation of ‘Desertion’ was proved beyond doubt under the relevant rules of the Government Employees (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018.

After reviewing the inquiry report and relevant documents, an initial decision was made to impose the punishment of dismissal from service against him. Later, based on the advice of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC), the decision to dismiss him from service was finalized.

The notification mentioned that departmental proceedings were completed against five more police officers on similar allegations, and they were also permanently dismissed from service. This punitive action was taken after the allegations of ‘desertion’ and failure to perform government duties against the concerned officers were proved in the investigation.
