On the sidelines of an event at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome, Minister of State for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku met with Undersecretary of State of Italy's Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry Luigi D'Eramo.

Bangladesh wants to increase cooperation with Italy in fisheries and livestock sector
At the meeting, the Minister of State highlighted the contribution of the fisheries and livestock sector to Bangladesh's food security, nutrition, employment, and livelihoods. He said that farmers in this sector will also come under the Farmer Card and receive various government benefits.
The Minister of State also mentioned that there are opportunities to exchange technology, research, training, and experience with Italy in developing a sustainable, climate-resilient, and technology-driven fisheries sector.

At the meeting, interest was expressed in signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two countries to increase cooperation in fisheries, the blue economy, and the livestock sector. To this end, views were exchanged on holding necessary discussions and taking actions in the future.
