He said on Tuesday (September 22) morning Bangladesh time that the Prime Minister is visiting New York mainly to attend the United Nations General Assembly session. Earlier, at the beginning of this month too, he had mentioned the possibility of the Prime Minister’s meeting with Trump on the sidelines of the UN session.

Prime Minister Tareq Rahman arrived in New York on Monday (September 21) to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. The government has said that he will address the General Assembly session on September 24. This will be his first speech as Prime Minister on the UN General Assembly stage.

Upon his arrival in New York, Bangladesh’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Irene Khan, and Bangladesh’s Ambassador to the United States, Tareq Md. Ariful Islam, welcomed the Prime Minister. Later, he was taken to a designated hotel in a motorcade. He is scheduled to stay there during the visit.
