On Tuesday (September 22), State Minister for Health Dr. M A Muhit inaugurated a training titled ‘Training of Doctors on Clinical Management of Dengue’ at Dhaka Medical College.
He said that doctors are being made skilled through science-based training with the aim that no dengue patient dies due to lack of treatment or mismanagement. Doctors are being trained according to the standards of clinical management of dengue, which will help reduce the mortality rate.
The state minister said that in the current dengue season, 63,627 patients have so far been admitted to hospitals. Among them, 59,083 have recovered and returned home, and about 4,300 are currently undergoing treatment.
It was announced at the event that before the main training, around 350 senior doctors were given training to become trainers, initiated by the Bangladesh Society of Medicine. They are training 1,600 doctors in 40 districts of the country.
The state minister further said that integrated initiatives are being taken to tackle dengue through epidemiological data and science-based planning. At the same time, he emphasized ensuring the professional dignity and social protection of health workers.
