According to the Election Commission's statement, State Minister for Local Government Mir Shah Alam has said that local government elections will not start this year.
Speaking at a briefing at the Secretariat on Wednesday (September 23), he said there is a plan to complete the local government elections by June 6 next year due to Ramadan and examinations. However, the Election Commission will determine the date of the vote.

The state minister said that about Tk 6,000 crore may be spent on five local government elections, and a budget is ready for this.

In addition, a plan has been taken to generate electricity on the rooftops of 6,544 offices, agencies, institutions, and markets across the country under the Local Government Division. Tk 370 crore will be released in this sector with the target of generation from January 2027.
