Shafiqur Rahman speaks on fuel oil and political situation at exchange meeting with journalists

The meeting was held on Tuesday (23 September) at 12 noon at the Al-Falah auditorium in Magbazar in the capital. Assistant Secretary General of the organization and Secretary of the Central Publicity and Media Department Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer delivered the welcome address.

At the meeting, discussions were held on the July National Charter and referendum, the country's economic and political situation, public suffering, the increase in fuel oil prices, the gas crisis, the garment industry, and the opposition's ongoing long march program. Dr. Shafiqur Rahman also inquired about various professional and personal matters of the journalists.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that although the opposition in Parliament gives constructive suggestions, they are not being accepted. He claimed that instead of going into a culture of disorder in Parliament as in the past, they have been forced to protest on the streets to realize the people's demands.

Criticizing the increase in fuel oil prices, he said that due to its impact, prices of various commodities are rising and it is having a widespread impact on public life. He also said that if the government does not listen to their demands, the movement will continue.

Regarding the long march, the Jamaat Amir said that the demands of the program are not those of any single party; they are the people's demands. Mentioning the long march as a peaceful and constitutional program, he said that they are sorry for the people's suffering and hardship during the program.

Referring to the media as the country's ‘fourth estate’, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that if journalists are well, the country will be well. He called upon the media to present truth as truth and falsehood as falsehood.

After the meeting, the Jamaat Amir took part in a luncheon organized in honor of the journalists. Leaders of various central levels of the party were also present at the event.
