ADB disclosed this information in a notification on Wednesday (September 23). Under the ‘Power Distribution Network Enhancement Project’, the distribution infrastructure of 13 Palli Bidyut Samitis under the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) will be improved.

Under the project, new transformer capacity of 1,150 megavolt-amperes will be installed at 52 substations, and the capacity of 12 existing substations will be increased by 115 megavolt-amperes.
In addition, more than 2,600 kilometers of overhead and underground power distribution lines will be constructed or modernized. Insulated conductors will also be installed to increase the reliability, efficiency and safety of power supply.

ADB said that if the project is implemented, the capacity of the power distribution infrastructure in the capital and surrounding rapidly growing industrial and urban areas will increase, and it will be possible to ensure a more reliable power supply for business establishments and residential customers.
